(Willmar MN-) A local family who lost a son in The War on Terrorism is putting on a special walk this weekend to honor him and the 109 Minnesotans killed in action since 9-11. Army Private First Class Ryane Clark of New London was killed in Afghanistan in October 2010, and his parents, Rick and Tracy Clark, have created The Fallen Heroes Walk which takes place along the Glacial Lakes Trail Friday through Sunday. Things begin at the Glacial Lakes Trailhead in Willmar at 5 p.m. Friday...

...Tracy Clark says every quarter mile or so along the way they will read the name and biography of each Minnesota soldier killed in action and leave a copy of it along the trail. Clark says on Saturday they will be passing through New London and a memorial they set up for Ryane...

...Tracy says the group is accepting donations to help fund the annual Gold Star Family Weekend held every August at Camp Ripley. She knows at least 10 people will be taking The Fallen Heroes Walk this weekend and every is invited to join in for all or a portion of the walk. The total length, from Willmar to Paynesville and back is 44 miles. If you would like to donate, send a check to Gold Star Family Walk, P.O. Box 286, Forest Lake MN 55025.
