(FOLEY, MN) -- BBE got out to a fast start against #1 seed Hinckley - Finlayson Monday night in the Section 5A South final at Foley High School. The Jaguars led early 7-3 and 9-5 and maintained the advantage until Hinckley tied the score at 25 all. The two teams traded baskets and went into halftime tied at 29 apiece. Senior guard Parker Schwinghammer led the way with 18 first half points including 4 three pointers. BBE' s interior defense held 6'4 Senior center Travis Visser to 9 first half points. Visser was the Great River Conference player of the year for the co - champion Jaguars from Hinckley-Finlayson. The second half started out pretty even but Hinckley - Finlayson began to gain the advantage due in large part to junior point guard Anders Prater who scored all of his 15 points in the second half. 3 quick baskets inside by Visser and solid shooting from senior guard Trevor Johnson who finished with 20 points allowed Hinckley-Finlayson to pull away down the stretch. Foul trouble for BBE also played a role with Ryan Illies and Evan Wiener both fouling out leading to the final score of 72 - 54. Parker Schwinghammer finished with a game high 24 points including 5 three pointers and 5 of 7 free throws. BBE shot 14 of 18 from the charity stripe while Hinckley- Finlayson cashed just 13 of 26 from the foul line. 4 Hinckley-Finlayson players would finish in double figures led by Johnson with 20, Visser with 16, Prater with 15 and Junior Lavone Kroschel with 11 points off the bench. Besides Schwinghammer's 24, Evan Wiener and 8th grader Ashton Dingmann each scored 7 points and Ryan Illies added 6. BBE will graduate 8 seniors and finish with a record of 12 and 17 while Hinckley-Finlayson now 25 and 4 will take on Cromwell - Wright on Friday night for the 5A title and a berth in next weeks State Tournament. Cromwell defeated Nevis the defending champs 55-50 in the 5A North final played in Pequot Lakes.
