8th COVID-19 death reported in Renville County


(Olivia MN-) Renville County has recorded it's 8th COVID-19-related death. The victim was a resident of a long-term care facility and was in their 80s. Renville County Public Health Nurse Jill Bruns says the county had a rash of coronavirus cases in the last couple weeks...

...Bruns says the recent increases have not been school-aged kids but more adults in their 30s, and pretty much spread throughout the county. And in addition to death number 8, Renville County reported an additional 5 cases to the Minnesota Department of Health on Friday. Stearns County reported 41 more cases, 10 more in both Kandiyohi and Swift, 4 more in Meeker, 2 more in Chippewa and zero additional cases of COVID-19 in Pope County.

Statewide, there were 1191 additional cases reported Friday, bringing the state's pandemic total to 94,189, and of that number, 84,256 have recovered. Under the state's new hospitalization reporting formula, there were 2 new hospital admissions and 3 in the ICU, and more than 28,000 people were tested on Thursday.   

There were 6 more deaths reported, putting the state's death toll at 1994.
