COVID-19 causes MACCRAY football game cancellations


(Clara City MN-) The MACCRAY School District has cancelled this week's and next week's varsity football games due to COVID-19 exposure. A press release says there was one positive case of coronavirus in the high school and contact tracing has been completed. District officials communicated with Chippewa Public Health, MN Department of Health, Southwest West Central Support Team, Minnesota Department of Sports Epidemiologists, and as a result, athletes, coaches, team managers and anyone else who has experienced close contact with the individual have been sent home to quarantine for 14 days. They say due to this exposure varsity football games for October 16th against RTR and October 23rd against Canby have been cancelled. Parents, guardians, staff and community were made aware by phone calls, letters, and an instant alert. More information may also be found on the school website.

According to a letter sent home to parents, the person who tested positive is a member of the football team, with exposure dates of October 9th through the 11th.
