COVID-19 numbers creeping upward in hospitalizations, ICU beds

(St. Paul MN-) The number of Minnesotans hospitalized and in the ICU due to COVID-19 is starting to creep up again. According to figures released Tuesday by the Minnesota Department of Health, 294 people are currently in the hospital, and 138 are in the ICU. Before the most recent surge, hospitalization numbers were in the 230 to 250 range, and people in the ICU were getting close to 100. There were 480 more cases reported Tuesday, putting the state's pandemic total at 52281, and 4 more deaths, bringing the death toll to 1580.

Locally, no additional cases were reported in Chippewa, Meeker and Renville Counties, leaving them at 90, 81 and 53 cases respectively. Kandiyohi County had 1 more case, bringing the total to 648, Stearns reported 12 more, putting them at 2742, and Swift is now up to 51 cases with one additional reported on Tuesday.
