  • Updated

The Minnesota Department of Health Friday reported 101 COVID-19-related deaths. That would be a new single day record, but it's unclear if that is from Thursday or combined with Wednesday. The MDH did not release data yesterday, Thanksgiving. The state's death toll is now at 3,476. One death was reported in Pope County, a person in their early 90s, and is that county's first death since the start of the pandemic. Renville County's death toll is now at 22 after three people died from COVID-19, ranging in age from the early 70s to the late 90s. 5 deaths were reported in Stearns County ranging in age from the early 70s to the late 90s, and brings the Stearns County total to 106. And one death was reported in Swift County, a person in their late 80s, and is Swift County's 8th victim.

There were 5,704 new cases of coronavirus reported Friday, bringing the state's total to 295,001. Of that number, 244,982 have recovered. The figures were based on 49,200 tests.

Locally, Stearns County reported 314 cases, there were 44 in Kandiyohi, 33 in Meeker, 18 in Renville, 11 in Chippewa and 9 in both Swift and Pope Counties.
