(Willmar MN-) The Southwest Initiative Foundation has created the Emergency Child Care Grant Program to offer immediate financial support to licensed family- and center-based child care providers.
On a first-come, first-served basis, the Southwest Initiative Foundation will be making grants to licensed child care programs caring for children of emergency and essential personnel, as defined by Governor Walz’s Executive Order 20-02. This grant program will support providers caring for children ages birth to 5 not covered by the executive order requiring schools to provide care.
Licensed family child care will be eligible for $1,000 grants.
Licensed center-based care will be eligible for up to $3,000 grants.
Providers must be located within one of the following counties or Native Nations: Big Stone, Chippewa, Cottonwood, Jackson, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, McLeod, Meeker, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Renville, Rock, Swift, Yellow Medicine, Upper Sioux Community, or Lower Sioux Indian Community.
We intend to provide a response and funding within two weeks of applications being received.
If you have specific questions about the application process, please contact Jodi Maertens, our Youth and Family Officer, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
