Local women making medical masks

(Willmar MN-) Local residents are trying to help the national shortage of protective masks used by healthcare workers dealing with the COVID 19 pandemic. Pauline Prawl of Willmar says last week she read on Facebook that a place called Deaconess was asking people to make masks, and decided to get busy...

...Prawl says there are two kinds of masks you can make, and you can find the patterns on the "It Takes a Villiage" Facebook Page, or on the Kandiyohi County Emergency Management page...

...Prawl says the biggest problem she's had was finding enough elastic, but when she put the word out people started bringing her some. She says once she has the pattern cut out, it takes her about 10 minutes to make the mask. She uses two layers of battique for cloth because it is tightly woven, and they are washable. Prawl says she is working with fellow mask-maker Anita Flowe of Willmar who has connections in the medical community.
