Meeker County resident succumbs to COVID-19-related illness

(Litchfield MN-) A Meeker County resident has passed away from COVID-19-related illness. The Minnesota Department of Health Friday reported the passing of the person who was in their early 80s, and it was Meeker County's 42nd death of the pandemic. There were a total of 5 deaths reported in the state, bringing the death toll to 7408. There were 364 more cases of coronavirus reported, bringing the state's total now to nearly 601,000, and of that number, nearly 589,000 victims have recovered. The figures were based on approximately 18,700 test results.

Locally Kandiyohi County reported 4 more cases, there were 2 in Stearns, single cases in Renville and Meeker Counties and zero reported in Chippewa, Swift and Pope. After a week at 51%, Kandiyohi County nudged up a point to 52% of the county's residents have had at least 1 dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
