Minnesota COVID-19 cases and deaths go down for fifth straight day

(St. Paul MN-) COVID-19 cases and deaths in Minnesota were again lower Tuesday. The Minnesota Department of Health reports 456 additional cases, the 5th day in a row of progressively declining numbers. The state's pandemic total now stands at just under 475,000, and of that number, just over 462,000 have recovered.

Locally, there were 10 cases in Stearns County, 6 in Kandiyohi, 3 in Pope, 1 in Meeker, and zero additional cases in Chippewa, Renville and Swift Counties.

There were only 2 additional deaths reported in Minnesota Tuesday, again part of a progressive decline. Minnesota's death toll now stands at 6380. The figures were based on just under 8000 test results.

Since Sunday 23 more people were hospitalized, with 8 going to the ICU. And through Sunday, more than 686,000 Minnesotans have been vaccinated, including 5803 in Kandiyohi County, which is 13.5% of the county's population.
