  • Updated

(St. Paul MN-) On the day Governor Walz loosened COVID-19 restrictions on eat-in dining at bars and restaurants, the Minnesota Department of Health issued a very positive report on cases and deaths in the state. On Monday, the MDH reported just 980 additional cases of coronavirus, and only 4 more deaths. However, testing numbers were also lower, just under 15,000 compared to an average single-day testing count of around 30,000. With the 4 deaths, Minnesota's pandemic death toll is now 5711, and the case count is now up to just under 438,000. Of that number, just over 417,000 people have recovered. Since Saturday there have been 36 more people admitted to the hospital, with 13 going to the ICU.

Locally, Stearns County reported 18 more cases of COVID-19. There were 4 in Kandiyohi, 2 in Meeker, 1 each in Chippewa, Pope and Renville Counties, and none in Swift County.
