More testing, higher COVID-19 numbers in MN Saturday

  • Updated

(St. Paul MN-) There was a bump in additional cases of COVID-19 Saturday both statewide and locally. The Minnesota Department of Health says there were 929 additional cases, bringing the state pandemic total to 83,588. There were 9 more deaths reported, putting the state death toll at 1906.

76,650 have recovered, 247 are hospitalized and 140 are in the ICU.

Locally, Swift County saw 11 more cases of coronavirus Saturday, there were 25 more in Stearns, 10 more in Kandiyohi, 5 more in Meeker, 3 more in Chippewa and Renville, and zero additional cases reported Saturday in Pope County.

One reason for the higher numbers may be because there were also more people tested, just over 20,500, compared to some low testing numbers earlier in the week.
