Record number of tests and COVID-19 cases reported in Minnesota

(St. Paul MN-) Friday was a record-breaking day in Minnesota when it comes to COVID-19 numbers. According to the Minnesota Department of Health, there were 43,600 test results reported Friday, which shatters the previous record of 32,000, by more than 11,000 tests. And the record number of tests produced a record number of new cases of coronavirus, 2287 confirmed and 10 probable. That puts the state's pandemic total at 119,396. 105,120 victims have recovered.

Locally, the number of additional cases was also high. There were 206 cases reported in Stearns County, 76 in Kandiyohi, 23 in Chippewa, 15 in Meeker, 5 in Pope, 1 in Swift and zero additional cases reported in Pope County.  Statewide, 13 deaths were reported.

Renville County reported a COVID-19-related death, a person in their late 80s, bringing their total to 11. There were also deaths reported in Redwood and Yellow Medicine Counties. The Yellow Medicine County victim was age 100 or older, and the Redwood County victim was between 70 and 74.
