State sees sharp one-day increase in COVID-19 cases


(St. Paul MN-) The Minnesota Department of Health reported a sharp one-day increase in COVID-19 Friday. On Thursday they reported 404 more cases of the coronavirus, but on Friday they reported 711 more. Some have been expecting cases to go up after the massive protests and riots in the Twin Cities last week. The state has now had 29,980 people test positive for the virus. 33 more deaths were reported Friday, bringing the state's total to 1148.

478 people are currently hospitalized, 220 are in the ICU, and 21,864 people have recovered.

Locally, 3 more cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Kandiyohi County, bringing the pandemic total to 514. Stearns County is now at 2056 after reporting 6 more cases on Friday.
