(Benson MN-) Bids for the Benson School District improvement project came in much lower than original estimates. The Swift County Monitor News says the bids were opened last week and came in 1.3 million dollars below the estimate of just over 26 million dollars. Superintendent Dennis Laumeyer said it was really good news, and means they can complete "much needed maintenance projects that also provide additional security and don't take funds from the classroom to complete the projects. This is good news for our taxpayers as well." The project manager is Breitbach Construction. Ground was broken on the project earlier the month, which includes the addition of a daycare to Northside Elementary School as well as a new cafeteria, a new performing arts center, new classrooms at Benson High School and they will convert the pool into gym space.
