Block 25

(Willmar MN-) As we reported last week, the Willmar City Council has not yet secured a purchase agreement for Block 25, the former Nelsen's Laundry site, for a new city hall. At last night's city council meeting it was announced the council has taken no action to purchase 4 lots on the block owned by Jon Wodash and the family of city council member Audrey Nelsen's husband. Two weeks ago City Administrator Ike Holland said after a closed door meeting May 20th that other options are being considered...

...Wodash and The Nelsen Estate are both asking for $100,000 for their land on Block 25. The City Hall Task Force will be meeting soon to discuss their options. Task force vice-chair Julie Asmus was invited to be a guest on The Open Mic Show today but has not responded. Also last night, the city council moved forward on implementing a half-cent local option sales tax to fund 30 million dollars worth of community improvements over the next 13 years.
