Just Drive

(Willmar MN-) Wednesday marked the 5 year anniversary of the tragic death of 21-year-old Robert Brau of Willmar, who was killed by a distracted driver, east of Montrose. Brau's mother, Donna Brau, spent part of the day handing out stickers and information about Minnesota's new hands-free cellphone driving law. Brau dispersed the info at the farmers' market outside the Kandi Mall in Willmar, and says her group, #Just Drive, wants to get the word out that driving is a huge responsibility and people need to keep their eyes on the road and put down their cell phones...

...On August 14th 2014 Robert Brau was killed when a distracted teenager crossed the centerline of Highway 12 east of Montrose and hit Brau as he was driving his motorcycle home to Willmar. He was a U of M Student, and the only child of Terry and Donna Brau...

...Donna says Robert was a talented singer and musician who played a variety of instruments. At the time of his death he was a member of the University of Minnesota Marching Band. He was also a hiker, biker, sailer, loved the outdoors and was generous with his time to help out friends. On the anniversary of his death, Terry and Donna ask people to take a picture of themselves doing things that remind them of Robert and post it on the Facebook page Annual Ride for Robert. They've also set up the Robert J. Brau foundation to provide scholarships to music students at Willmar High School and The University of Minnesota.
