Celebrate the Light of the World

(Willmar MN-) The annual Celebrate The Light of the World Display at Robbins Island Park in Willmar began it's 5-week run last night at 5 p.m. Jon Schmidt of Willmar Fests says even though half of the Robbins Island Loop is off limits to motor vehicles during the year, the city is allowing them to once again use the whole loop for the display...

...Schmidt says due to construction, there won't be lights by The Hilltop and Guri Endreson Shelters, and a planned walking path won't take place because they are still waiting for equipment. But otherwise the display will be pretty much the same as when they acquired it a few years ago from event founders, Chad and Angie Koosman. Schmidt says last year people were very generous, and The Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, The United Way of West Central Minnesota and The Willmar Area Food Shelf benefitted from donations people made at the event...

...Schmidt says if you would like to volunteer to be a bell ringer at the Celebrate The Light display, go to their website, celebratethelight.net, and click on the volunteer tab. People can see the lights every day from 5 to 10 p.m. from Thanksgiving to New Years Eve.
