(Minneapolis, MN) -- Saint Cloud-based Coborn's has agreed to pay 225-thousand dollars in penalties for allegedly not complying with record-keeping and other requirements of the controlled substances act. Prosecutors say it enabled a Coborn's Pharmacy employee to divert opioids for personal use over a number of years. Investigators say the pharmacist in charge at one of the company's retail stores fabricated nine patient accounts and created numerous false prescriptions. The employee pleaded guilty to federal charges.
