DI Labs

(Willmar MN-) A Willmar high-tech manufacturing company says they are expanding their offerings. DI Labs does 3-d printing, and company president Carl Douglas says in March they moved from Spicer, where they began in 2013, to a site just east of Willmar...

...Douglas says 3-d printing is a manufacturing process in which plans and a description for a product are programmed into a printer, which then creates the product from scratch...

...Business ground to a halt when Governor Walz issued his executive order shutting down non-essential businesses this spring due to coronavirus and Douglas says they turned to manufacturing personal protective equipment for people in the dental and medical business. But he says business has been picking up lately and they are almost back up to the level they were at last year.

Douglas says "It's been an exciting year at DI Labs, especially when it comes to new materials and new technologies. In the last few months, we've added state-of-the-art chemical surface smoothing and Carbon Digital Light Syntheses (DLS). We've also added nearly 20 new materials including Lubrizol (LOO-briz-zawl) TPU and Nylon PA11 on the HP Multijet Fusion as well as several rigid polyurethanes, elastic polyurethanes, high-temp, bio-compatible, and silicon like materials with our Carbon DLS." Douglas says these new additions expand and fortify their existing material portfolio of Nylon, Carbon fiber filament, high performance polymers, and metal. He says their continued expansion "reinforces our commitment to find solutions and use additive manufacturing to accelerate your innovation"
