(Raymond MN-) The people who evacuated Raymond earlier this morning because of a train derailment are being allowed back into town. A detour on Highway 23 remains in effect. Katie Farmer, the President and CEO of BNSF Railway, was in Raymond for a news conference around 1020 a.m. She says just after 1 a.m., 22 cars derailed on the west edge of the city, and 4 cars, containing ethanol and corn syrup, started on fire. Farmer said the fire is still burning, and emergency crews will begin clearing the wrecked cars, and then they will put foam on the fire to completely extinguish it...
...Also coming to Raymond was Governor Tim Walz, who said the water in Raymond is safe....
...Walz said he was impressed at the huge response from fire and emergency crews from around the region...
...Representative Dave Baker of Willmar represents Raymond, and said he's glad no one was injured...
...Baker said the Willmar Area Community Foundation has set up a site to deal with donations to help those effected...
...MnDot officials have not yet determined when they can lift the detour and reopen Highway 23. Central Minnesota Christian School and Unity Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg provided shelter and food to the evacuees, and many people supplied food and water for the fire fighters.
