(Fergus Falls, MN) -- A suspect is under arrest in connection with the murder of a man in Perham Monday night. Sheriff's deputies say 40-year-old Derek Sweere is in the Otter Tail County jail on a second-degree murder charge. Court records say Sweere stabbed his room mate Brandon Snyder twice and shot him 16 times after an argument. Sweere is a former Spicer resident, and in July 2000 he was arrested for 2nd Degree Assault with a dangerous weapon. He was placed on 10 years probation, but in 2008 he was convicted of violating probation and was ordered to serve a 27-month prison sentence.
