(Willmar MN-) Gun bills ranging from universal background checks to "permitless carry" will be discussed today during a Minnesota Senate field hearing in Hibbing (Tuesday 1:00 P-M). Majority Leader Paul Gazelka was the main speaker at the annual meeting of the Willmar Rifle and Pistol Club last night, and told the large crowd at the Willmar Conference Center he wanted to talk about how to protect The Second Amendment, but also wanted to reassure them The Minnesota Senate would not take up two of the most controversial laws being proposed by House Democrats...

...Gazelka praised the work done by Senator Andrew Lang of Olivia for standing up for The Second Amendment. Gazelka said today's hearing in Hibbing is usually held in the Twin Cities but he wanted it "up in outstate Minnesota where people in outstate can have more of a voice in some of the bills that they're hearing."...

But Joan Peterson with Protect Minnesota in Duluth says there have always been as many people for the gun-rights group as there are for gun safety groups at the state Capitol.
