(St. Cloud MN-) The Stearns County Sheriff's Department is adding up the costs to clean up the jail after an Inmate broke a sprinkler head, causing major water damage. 23-year-old Hobson Kimaiga of St. Michael, was brought to the Downtown St. Cloud facility early July 6th by the St. Cloud Police Department. He was booked on charges of obstructing legal process and disruptive intoxication. Kimaiga reportedly broke a sprinkler head in a 2nd floor cell causing water to spread into the intake area, leaking into the 1st floor and the basement of the facility. Multiple jail cells were damaged along with an elevator.

Investigators are actively working the case and obtaining damage estimates. The case will be sent to the Stearns County Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges.

Sheriff Steve Soyka says "I commend our jail staff along with Stearns County Building Facilities staff for the quick work in responding and containing the water. Without their quick response, the damage could have been more extensive."
