(Minneapolis, MN) -- A Hennepin County judge is granting a defense request to delay the state trial for three former Minneapolis police officers charged in George Floyd's death. Judge Peter Cahill ruled state prosecutors and defense attorneys for Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao need to meet by Saturday and agree to a new date for the state trial by Sunday. If the attorneys fail to reach an agreement by Sunday evening, the trial date will remain March 7th. Last week, the attorneys requested that the trial be pushed back because the officers' federal civil rights trial is set to begin on January 20th and it's unknown how long that will last.
