Lang

(St. Paul MN-) Republican Senator Andrew Lang of Olivia says he would be open to considering legislation to reduce gun violence, but insists it must include mental health measures. Governor Walz and DFL leaders are calling for a special session to deal with emergency insulin legislation and would also like to see gun control measures like universal background checks and a so-called "Red Flag" law that allows judges to confiscate weapons from people they deem a danger to themselves or others. ...Lang says every mass shooting scenario is different, and he says there isn't a magic bullet to preventing them...

...As for insulin legislation, Lang feels lawmakers could come up with a bill that could pass. The main hang-up seems to be a funding mechanism. Lang says both parties are using it as a political tool...

...Lang says the bill that fell short in the 2019 session was too broad in scope.
