(St. Paul, MN) -- State Representative Nick Zerwas is calling for a criminal investigation after the Star Tribune reported more than 200 violations of state law at the Minnesota Department of Human Services over the past year. The Elk River Republican said, "with just the sheer volume of illegality that's been uncovered, I think it's unbelievably important that the Ramsey County attorney... begin a criminal investigation." Some Human Services Department employees reportedly allowed vendors to perform work without signed contracts, and others purchased products without required permission. Senate Republicans have scheduled a hearing next week.
