(Montevideo MN-) The scale of the Veterans' nursing home in Montevideo has been reduced a bit, but local lawmakers says it's still moving forward. Senator Andrew Lang and Representative Tim Miller met in Montevideo Tuesday with the new Minnesota Commissioner of Veterans' Affairs, Larry Herke and members of his staff, as well as local officials. Lang says it was a good meeting, and they talked about some of the budget reductions...

... The planned 72-bed facility in has a total project budget of $48.5 million and is currently in the pre-design phase. Right now soil borings are taking place on the 13 acre site on the east side of town, near Montevideo High School. The project is a joint effort of the state and federal governments as well as The City of Montevideo and some major private donations. They hope to be open by the Summer of 2021.
