(Minneapolis, MN) -- A petition to change the name of Chicago Avenue in south Minneapolis to Floyd Avenue topped its goal of 15-thousand signatures. George Floyd died in police custody on Memorial Day at the intersection of 38th and Chicago. The Change-dot-org petition says, "we are asking the city of Minneapolis to rename Chicago Ave in memory and in honor of our fallen brother, George Floyd." Hundreds of people came together at the Floyd memorial site Friday afternoon. The Minneapolis City Council voted to ban the use of choke holds by police and also approved requiring officers to report and intervene when they see unauthorized use of force by a fellow officer.
