(Benson MN-) In August of 2018 voters in The Benson School District approved a 26.3 million dollar bond referendum for a project to add on to Northside Elementary School. Ground was broken for the project earlier this month. The project will involve an addition to the west end of the school for infant and toddler daycare, pre-schoolers and the Discovery Kids program. There will also be a new cafeteria built, which will free up space in the gym which currently loses about half it's space at meal time. There will also be a new performing arts center, replacing the 91-year-old Junior High Auditorium which was demolished last month. There will also be new classrooms added at the high school, where they will also convert the pool into gym space. The project will also pay to beef up security at Benson High School and Northside Elementary.
