(Granite Falls MN-) Senator Tina Smith will be in Granite Falls today to meet with local government and business leaders for a roundtable discussion on expanding broadband access in the region.
At 9:15 a.m.: Sen. Smith will be at the Yellow Medicine County Administration building with Granite Falls Mayor Dave Smiglewski, Yellow Medicine County officials, as well as other local leaders to discuss rural broadband needs.
Sen. Smith said broadband access is essential to attract businesses and retain a strong workforce, create access to telemedicine, and to support farm operations in rural communities.
At 11:30 a.m. Wednesday Smith will be in Montevideo, where she’ll be joined by local officials on a “Rural Economy Tour” of the community. The driving tour will start at Montevideo City Hall, where it will also end. The group will visit several local businesses during the tour.
