Ice Castle

(Spicer MN-) It's going to be toned-down because of COVID-19, but Spicer Winterfest will take place this year. Spicer Commercial Club President Michelle Castel Olson says The Wee Kut Ice Company of Spicer will get ready to start cutting ice blocks out of Green Lake to make an ice castle on Green Lake's Saulsbury Beach on Friday...

...If you'd like to help remove and stack the 5 to 6000 ice blocks from the lake, show up at the beach at 9 a.m. Saturday. There will be no official castle lighting ceremony...once it's complete, they will turn on the lights. Also on Saturday there will be snowmobile races on Green Lake put on by Central Minnesota Pond Racing.

Castel Olson says the following weekend, on Jan. 23rd, there will be Bonfires and s’more’s on Saulsbury Beach and you can enjoy kicksledding with PWELC from 2-5pm on Green Lake. At dusk, the castle will be lit, followed by fire works....

...There will be many fun (socially distant) events taking place during the month, check with local businesses to see what they have planned. The back up fireworks date will be on Jan. 30th.

Events that won't be taking place this year....The Polar Plunge and The Fire and Ice Dance.
