(St. Paul, MN) -- Advocates who want to make child marriages illegal in Minnesota staged a demonstration in the state capitol yesterday. Right now, anyone aged 16 and 17 years old can get married if they have permission from a parent, a guardian or the court. A proposed law would ban anyone under the age of 18 from getting married in the state. Data from the 2014 census showed more than 11-hundred children between 15 and 17 years of age in Minnesota reported having been married.
