(Hawick MN-) Two people were hurt when an SUV and a semi collided near Hawick. The state patrol says it happened at 7:54 p.m. on Highway 23, west of 232nd Avenue, which is near the Hawick Cemetery. A Lincoln MKX driven by 66-year-old George Hooper of Brainerd was eastbound on 23 when the vehicle crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming semi pulling a trailer full of vehicles head-on. Hooper and his passenger 67-year-old Janice Hooper were trapped in the the wreckage and had to be extricated. George Hooper was injured but apparently did not have to be hospitalized. The state patrol says they believe alcohol was involved. Janice Hooper was airlifted from the scene to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with life-threatening injuries. The semi driver, 46-year-old Shawn Dreckman of Balaton was not hurt.
