Destination Playground

(Willmar MN-) Some upgrades and improvements are coming to The Destination Playground at Robbins Island Park in Willmar this spring. Playground Committee Member Sara Carlson says they will be adding shade, signs, garbage cans and an improved water filtration system to the 3-year-old park. Carlson says the $90,000 worth of improvements will be paid for through donations and money they have on hand from the original fundraiser to build the park...

...Carlson says it would be impossible or impractical to completely cover the park to create shade, but they will be putting up some structures for partial shade...

...Carlson says the water filtration system didn't do a good enough job keeping scale and slime from making a mess and clogging the misters that help cool kids during the summer, so they are installing a new filtration system...

...And Carlson says they are going to install a selfie swing, where people can swing face to face and put their cell phone in a holder to take selfies while swinging. She says the 19,000 square foot park will remain open while all the improvements take place.
