(St. Paul, MN) -- Governor Tim Walz says he does not plan to do what Governor Tony Evers (EE'-verz) did in neighboring Wisconsin in calling a special session without prior agreement on anti-gun-violence measures. Walz said, "I've received little indication that there's much appetite in the Republican Senate to do anything on that, so at this point in time I don't think calling a special session would move us any further along." Walz said it is his intention to continue to ask lawmakers to come together on this issue. Republicans oppose universal background checks and a "red flag" law to keep guns out of the hands of those considered a danger to themselves or others.
