(Willmar MN-) Willmar School District officials are reconfiguring where an addition to the Willmar Middle School will be built. Superintendent Jeff Holm says the addition will house a larger gymnasium and learning space for special needs students. Holm says they had initially planned on putting the addition on the east side of the building, but changed their mind after learning about utility easements....

...Holm says they are now looking to put the addition on the south side of the building. He says it would be built onto the southeast corner of The Middle School, with a separate parking lot accessible off of Willmar Avenue at 5th Street...

...Holm says the school district will be paying for the new gym and classroom space for kids currently going to the Alternative Learning Center out of reserve funds, and the Southwest-West Central Education Cooperative would pay for the classrooms dedicated to children with special learning needs, such as autism. Holm says RA Morton, which helped build Lakeland Elementary School and other Willmar school projects, will be the construction manager. Holm says they hope to break ground later this summer.
