(Willmar MN-) MnDot says Mother Nature threw a monkey wrench into their plans to get Highway 12 and County Road 55 open to traffic by the end of October. In their weekly update on the Willmar WYE Project, they said due to the snow, rain and cold temperatures, they have been unable to finish the asphalt paving, pavement marking and other miscellaneous things that need to be done prior to placing the detour on 12 so the tie-ins can be constructed. They say based on the extended forecast, it looks like the first two weeks in November have better weather expected. With some luck, they say they should be able to put the 12 detour in place and the tie-ins constructed the second week in November.

MnDot asks motorists to refrain from driving on the new roadways. Even though they look complete, they are not. There are drop offs in the pavement and numerous safety features that are not yet in place, which can make driving on the new roadways very dangerous.
