He was born June 20th, 1926 in Danube, MN amidst a farm with an abundance of history. Donald attended St. Aloysius School and graduated from Danube Public School before finding the love of his life, Dolores Pastoors. They were wed September 6th, 1950 at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and were destined to have a long love story together.
We will always remember his character and lifetime achievements, which included service on the Co-op City Farmers Elevator Board of Directors, The Flora Township Planning and Commission committee, the local school board, and acting as an advisor to the special education classes for BOLD and BDRSH. He also proudly served for over 50 years as a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Knights of Columbus.
His desire to connect with people and his love for history and culture were his greatest passions. Donald touched a countless number of lives with his inquisitiveness and storytelling abilities. You could often find Donald giving tours at the Morton Museum and at St. Aloysius Church. It was his belief that we knew and appreciated our humble beginnings and respected the changes that came along.
Donald will be remembered for his sweet smile, the twinkle in his eye, and the heartfelt love he extended to everyone that crossed his footpath.
Donald is preceded in death by his father Joseph, mother Hazel, and his daughter Julie. He is survived by his loving wife Dolores, seven children: Mike, Jane, Jill, Tim, Joan, Joyce, Jenny, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
