Grace Johnson

Grace Johnson, age 66, of Hector and formerly Olivia, died November 30, 2019 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Father Joe Steinbeisser as celebrant. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.

Grace Mary Johnson was born in Milroy, MN, on January 25, 1953 to Andrew and Marie (Reynolds) Steinbeisser. She grew up south of Olivia and graduated from Olivia High School in 1971. Grace was employed as a CNA/TMA in Hutchinson, Glencoe, and Olivia for many years. On October 20, 2001, Grace was united in marriage to Don Johnson in Olivia. They lived in Olivia for a few years and have made their home in Hector these past 16 years. Grace and Don enjoyed camping, ice fishing, and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings together. She loved playing bingo with her friends and had a passion for antiquing and crafting. She also made many scrapbooks and enjoyed stamping. In her garden, Grace raised everything she needed to make her salsa and spaghetti sauce. Grace will fondly be remembered for her huge heart.

Grace is survived by her husband, Don Johnson of Hector; six brothers: Robert (Cynthia) Steinbeisser of Morton, Alan (Nancy) Steinbeisser of New Ulm, James (Kathy) Steinbeisser of Olivia, Richard (Kathy) Steinbeisser of Osakis, Joseph Steinbeisser of Olivia, and Andrew (Tammy) Steinbeisser of Marshall; three sisters: Linda Erickson of Hutchinson, Cathy (Robert) Herman of Cobden, and Ruth (Mark) Schulte of Olivia; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carolyn and Ernest Johnson of Belgrade; three sisters-in-law: Sharon (Brian) Jones of Renville, Stephanie (Rick) of Alexandria, and Carol Johnson of Orlando, FL; and brother-in-law, Steve Johnson of St. Cloud; 29 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Marie Steinbeisser; brother, William Steinbeisser;  niece, Ann Steinbeisser; and her great-nephews and great-niece Mason and Mya Valentin and Nathan Kleinschmidt.
