Third place Sacred Heart recorded the highest finish in baseball program history following its 13-3 victory over KMS in the Class A third-place game on Friday, June 14 at the Mini-Met in Jordan.

The Eagles (15-9) turned a one-run advantage into a large lead on the strength of a seven-run spree in the top of the sixth inning that created an 11-3 lead. Senior outfielder Will Rohrich had the big blast of the inning on a two-run home run to deep left field. Sophomore catcher Gage Vavra was 2 for 3 with four runs batted in. Senior shortstop Brenden Bethke was 3 for 5, and senior Brady Klein was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two runs batted in. They were the first two hits of the season for Klein. In the 2006 state tournament, the Eagles won the Class A consolation final. Senior shortstop Weston Gjerde was 2 for 4 with an RBI for Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (21-4).
