NL-S Wildcats

(Cokato, MN)-- The New London-Spicer Wildcats football team lost on the road Thursday night with the Dassel- Cokato Chargers winning 34 to 18.

It was a scoreless1st quarter and for most of the 2nd  as well until the Chargers scored on Quarterback Eli Gillman’s touchdown run with 5:46 to play in the half.  The Wildcats answered with 1:28 to play in the half on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Kyle Doty to Brycen Christensen.  The Wildcats extra-point attempt was blocked and the Chargers took a 7-6 lead into the break.

The Chargers also scored first in the 2nd Half, this time on 78-yard TD pass from Gillman to Selseth to go up 14-6 with 8:14 to play in the 3rd Quarter.  The Wildcats answered about a minute later after a 62-yard run by Tim Thein setup a 4-yard TD run by Jack Novak.  After failing to convert the two-point attempt the score was 14 – 12, Chargers.

After Charger QB Eli Gillman scored on two additional TD runs it was 28-12 after the extra points early in the 4th Quarter.  And again a Thein run setup another TD run, from the four-yard line, by Jack Novak.  After another failed two-point conversion it was 28-18, Chargers. QB Gillman scored again on a 64-yard TD run to get to the final score of Chargers 34, after a missed extra point, and Wildcats 18.  

The next game for the Wildcats will be broadcast on 106.5 The Train on Friday, October 23, when the Cats host Albany.  The Rambow Pre-game Show will start at 6:40 PM with Al Rohman and Bill Dean on the call.
