(Willmar, MN)—It wasn’t an easy game, but the Willmar girls’ hockey team was up for the task. The Willmar Cardinals defeated the Alexandria Cardinals on Thursday night 3-2 at Cardinal Arena.
After a scoreless first period Senior Forward Mya Monson would tie the score at one a piece on an Ashley Larson assist at 12:17.
Alexandria took the lead again early on in the third period, but the Willmar Cardinals didn’t give up.
Assisted by Mya Monson and Madison Garberding, Junior Forward Larson hit the back of the net on a power play goal at 6:28 knotting the score up 2-2.
Bailey Olson would end up with the unassisted game winning goal at 10:50.
In the net for the Willmar Cardinals, Bryton Carlson denied 35 of 37 shots in the Willmar victory.
The Willmar girls are now 14-6-1 and are on the road next Tuesday night as they travel to St. Cloud to battle the 11-8 Icebreakers.
